Vaughan Architects is currently using BIC Construction for a complex and full renovation of a 1950’s home in Mosman, which incorporates a contemporary rear addition and basement garage built on the boundary.

Project Overview
This project is a carefully executed extension and major renovation of a traditional Mosman home, balancing heritage character with a refined contemporary addition.
The transition between old and new is handled with subtlety, allowing the original fabric to remain clearly expressed while introducing a calm, cohesive modern layer. Materiality is considered with intent as textured limestone tiles complement timber herringbone floors to create natural continuity across the home.
The new extension opens into a generous living space shaped by exposed Spotted Gum hardwood beams, extending seamlessly from interior to alfresco. Large openings strengthen the connection to the outdoors, while a floor-to-ceiling rendered fireplace anchors the space with understated presence.
Crafted details are evident throughout. A 12mm rolled plate steel balustrade introduces a precise, sculptural edge to the staircase. The kitchen is articulated in honed leathered granite benchtops and walnut cabinetry, delivering depth with restraint.
A home grounded in clarity of design and material integrity, built to the highest standard delivered through detailed construction, close collaboration with architect and client, and a commitment to bespoke craftsmanship that realises the design intent.
